BACKGROUND
Members are a mix of people born in Crowthorne
with others who have chosen to settle here. Those who were born here chose to
stay because they liked the village atmosphere. Those who have moved here
chose to do so for a variety of reasons, but all liked the rural aspect and
small community environment.
There has been considerable change in the area
over the years, the majority of which has been in keeping with
Crowthorne’s rural status.
However, during the past 2 years the Bracknell
Forest Borough Council has approved a number of developments which have given
rise to considerable concern at the growing urbanisation of Crowthorne.
Wokingham District Council has, so far, not allowed the same high density
developments, so BFBC's protestations that it is only interpreting Government
policy are questionable.
In addition to the planned redevelopment of the
village centre which many in our community opposed, there have been a number
of developments approved which are not in keeping with the area, and which
will impact significantly on traffic congestion, parking, school places and
doctors’ surgeries
